Did You Hear The News? [Rage Comic]

Posted by DeadAnarchistPhil on November 4, 2011

This Rage Comic epitomises how I feel when I talk to some people!

The seriousness of the world around them seems to be lost within a mind full of trivial banal pop and celebrity culture.

NOTE: The Above Epic Comic Was Not Made By Me.

What Really Caused The 2011 Riots In England?

Posted by DeadAnarchistPhil on August 18, 2011

On the 4th of August 2011 the Metropolitan Police shot dead an alleged drug dealer, Mark Duggan, while trying to arrest him on suspicion of a planned revenge attack after the murder of his cousin.  According to Police sources Mr. Duggan had a Gun in the Taxi he was in when the Police tried to arrest him, it was also said one of the Police officers were shot, but this later turned out the be a ricochet from a Police gun. There are conflicting statements and circumstances surrounding the Death of Mark Duggan that are still not clear and may never will be. Not to dilute the seriousness of the incident but whether he was a drug dealer or the Police acted inappropriately is a subject for another blog because there is not enough evidence either way currently.

What we do know is that this death caused a chain reaction around London and then other parts of England. But let’s get this clear, only a few people were actively rioting because of what happened to Mark Duggan, the others just used it as an excuse. So, what I want to talk about is why. Why did so many people think it was right and proper to loot shops, destroy homes, cars, businesses and attack the Police and each other?

If you’ve been watching the TV and reading the News Papers then you would have seen what some people are blaming it on. The main answers I’ve seen being offered are a general breakdown in some parts of society, caused by relaxed parenting, absent parents, relaxed liberal law enforcement, drugs, lack of religion and the ‘Family values’ it advocates and lack of job prospects (National & Community Economic Depression).

It is all of the above, with some things being more responsible than others. One of the most questionable ones is the lack of religion in our community and daily lives being a big factor. I disagree with this as there was more crime in the past when England truly was a religious country than in modern times. Though I don’t dispute religion can be a guiding and grounding force when a person adopts only the good parts (When I say ‘good parts’ I mean what is good, kind and lawful by our cultural standards of today) of that particular ideology. Though many of the non-religious also maintain that people could do the same things without being religious and still have a healthy society. Japan for example, the majority of the population there are Shinto and Buddhists, these ‘religions’ are more about culture and history than religious regulations, yet Japan is nothing like England. When the North East of Japan was devastated by a tsunami in March 2011 no one was seen to be looting or overly angry, and their lives, homes and family had been washed away. Again this is nothing like England.

Staying with Japan as an example, the economy of Japan has been in a perpetual slump since the late 1980s. During the 1990s, which the Japanese call the ‘Lost Decade‘, jobless figures were high and even to this day the industry of Japan has a third of their workforce made up of non-Japanese, which means there’s fewer jobs for native-born Japanese. A situation similar to our own here in England. Despite this the Japanese have not rioted, though they have protested, albeit quietly.

So what causes the Japanese to take things in their stride, maybe a little too much in their stride, and the English to fight, smash and loot? As I said, all the above things I mentioned in paragraph three are all to blame to a degree, but all the above have a thing in common. That thing is ‘Socialisation‘. Basically, Socialisation is what we learn at an early age as we grow up. The ‘social norms’, the way we go about talking to others, eating, working, presenting ourselves, our values, traditions our culture. What we learn as children (Socialisation) will set the scene for how we act when we become adults. It’s important to note there is a common disagreement between social scientists about socialisation and if it is all learned or some aspects of our personality, which affect the way we act, are from genetics.

Regardless of that debate, the reality is that socialisation is the main way we learn and enforce the ‘norms’ of our society. So what degrades these norms, what stops or changes the established socialisation we have to another? The answer quiet simply is what I cited above. What this means is, that ‘break down in society‘ is a break down in socialisation. And that breakdown is caused by outside factors, such as I mentioned in Paragraph three, to all contribute to the degradation of the established socialisation we have. Of course, not everyone was out looting, fighting and destroying things during the unrest, what does this mean? It means the majority of the rioters came from a different community or family where accepted socialisation isn’t adhered to or respected.

On looking closely you can see these people come from economically depressed poor/working class areas, areas where economic activity and funding is very little and almost absent. When I say this I’m in no way excusing the way those people acted during the riots, I’m just explaining what contributed to it.

Adding to the economic depression is another factor, a Consumer Society . In a consumer society people buy for necessity as much as they do for pleasure and identity. In the past when jobs were more available and a collective identity, such as working class, miners, butcher and such were granted by birth, people had a sense of worth and stronger sense of belonging. These days, people rarely base who they are on their job title, they base who they are on what ‘they’re in to’, such as music, art, how they dress what they own and how rich they are. In a materialistic society where image, what you own and how rich you are means everything to an individual, you’re nothing if you don’t have the right stuff. You’re nothing if you’re a person or part of a family that’s on benefits and you can’t afford anything so you can socially ‘fit in’. This sounds very childish, and you would be right… it is, but this is the kind of hollow society we have whether you like it or not.

This type of society contributed to the riots, just as the economic under investment has. If those people had something to lose, if they already had what they wanted then many of them would not have done what they did. However, faced with the opportunity many people would loot what they could if given the chance, many people do that regardless of whether they’re rich or poor.

You may be thinking now: “If we [The English] did that then why didn’t the Japanese?” The answer to that is some socialisation is so engrained and matters so much, like the honour code in Japan, that people adhere to it strictly. That is why Japan doesn’t have much unrest, but we in the UK and the West do.

Having said all the above I think there comes a time when people take responsibility for their actions and situation and try to make a difference in their own lives instead of blaming it on others. The help exists out there for people to make something of themselves if they com from a disadvantaged area. I am an example of this. However, if the Government wants to stop the riots from happening again getting tough on crime will help a little but ultimately wont do much but lock more people up because the base problem isn’t being addressed. We need to get to the bottom of what causes it and that is our society that fosters hollow materialism, weak law enforcement and  successive Governments that have put profits and the needs of big business before those of the people.

UK Law & Order Are A Complete Joke!

Posted by DeadAnarchistPhil on June 25, 2011

I wasn’t planning on doing any more blogs this week, and I know I’ve done a post like this before but I had to blog on this.

You may have seen on the news this week that a man in Salford has been arrested for stabbing a burglar who attempted to rob his home with a gang of three men. The burglar (Who was already out on bail for a previous robbery) died from his wounds, the man is now under suspicion of murder.

The incident happened last Wednesday, I know the Police have to do their job, but three days? As of me writing this post on the 23rd of June 2011 there has been no word of him getting out, in fact the Police have been granted extra time to question him. [UPDATE: The man is now out on bail]

Just think about it, you’ve defended yourself and your family, like anyone would, and then you get arrested. This wound me up and got me thinking of my rights to self-defence, the law and the prevention of crime.

I have to say, when I read it, I raged a little! Take a look (All these are short extracts, to read in full click here):

The Law and Evidential Sufficiency:

“It is both good law and good sense that a man who is attacked may defend himself. It is both good law and good sense that he may do, but only do, what is reasonably necessary.”

“A person may use such force as is reasonable in the circumstances in the prevention of crime, or in effecting or assisting in the lawful arrest of offenders or suspected offenders or of persons unlawfully at large.”

reasonable necessary“? So, if a gang bursts in someone’s home and the occupant instinctively reacts to protect himself and his family he/she is going to bear these stipulations, oh wait… ‘Laws’ – in mind? No they wont, they will react with an animal instinct and aim to kill, no matter with weapons or whatever else is to hand.

Yet acting this way can land you in prison for actions that are not “unreasonably necessary“.

Right now, there is nothing stopping a gang from bursting in to your or my house, assaulting and then robbing us. There’s nothing stopping them from intimidating you, your neighbours and the whole area you live in. Only in the UK could the population be told to remain sitting ducks and not protect ourselves and our neighbour hoods properly and wait to be victims of crimes.

So, if the laws’s a joke, prison is no deterrent and the police and law wont protect us, then who will? It’s obvious… no one but ourselves. I have honestly given up and lost faith with the Police, they can’t be relied upon to protect you from violence, robbery or intimidation, all they do is log your crime or problems and try to catch or have a word with whoever did it. Too bad if something of yours was stolen or someone died, isn’t it?

I really am sick of it, I live in one of the shittest Cities in the UK, only third to Glasgow and London, and the law is a joke and the local scum know how they can get away with murder, literally, and so it’s no skin off their nose if they kick the shit out of you. They’ll go away and come out a hero and ‘Hard man’ and bring the area down even more and wreck even more lives.

So, we can’t rely on the Police and law system to protect us, on the street or in our own homes. I really am itching to start taking defensive weapons out with me. I know, it sounds bad, but the crime stats for my area are bad too! And don’t tell me I’m worrying over nothing, I know who the local scum are! I’m also thinking about using something large, heavy or sharp for home defence, fuck the repercussions. And anyone who thinks the country is not that bad then you’re either rich, drinking the coolaid or part of the problem.

What you can legally Use:

Hands/Body. Unless you’re a MMA fighter then you’re pretty much fucked.

Self Defence Spray This stuff is useless! All it does is mark the skin for seven days.

Running Away. This is the actual prefered method the Police advocate. Wont make much difference if you’re cornered in your own home or being chased by a gang.

What you can’t use:

Pretty much everything else. So that sharpened Banana I had planned is out of the question!

Which brings us back to the Police and law again, they don’t want us to defend ourselves and leave them to do the crime fighting, yet how can we do that when they’re useless and the deterrent for crime isn’t a working at all? And the Human/Civil Rights groups also want us to defend ourselves ‘reasonably’! It seriously is a joke!

Oh, and if any one thinks David Cameron is on our side with this, well… you’re wrong. When he said last week:

We will put beyond doubt that homeowners and small shopkeepers who use reasonable force to defend themselves or their properties will not be prosecuted.

All he’s doing is reiterating the current law! He says shit like that safe in the knowledge that most people haven’t got a clue what their rights to self-defence are. I didn’t even know fully untill I checked! I advise you all to read it, rage, laugh, then hold you head in your hands and not think for a second if someone breaks in to your house or attacks you in the street, fight back, fight back as if you’re life depends on it, because the likelihood is… you most likely are!

Celebrity Culture Is Fucking Rubbish

Posted by DeadAnarchistPhil on June 23, 2011

Some of the stories I’ve seen on the front of these mags amaze me. What amazes me more is the people who will buy such obvious works of fiction and exaggerations. I took time to read a few, and they are utter shit! Lies, unconfirmed stories and shitty pictures of celebrities doing everyday things.

I think people read these types of mags for two reasons:

(1) They literally are halfwits.

(2) They have such boring lives they have to live through someone else’s vicariously.

I wouldn’t really mind but these mags are getting more popular and a sizable chunk of the next generation are going to be  a bunch of celebrity obsessed halfwits who’s only ambition in life is to be pointlessly famous.

I would say people need to pay more attention to their children and spend more time with them and guide them through life to give them self-esteem and thus a grounding in reality. Um, but it isn’t going to happen, these kids are going to grow up as adults and feel like failures because they’re not where they thought they’d be in life. And it’s all due to an unrealistic, distorted media version of life and lazy parents.

The rot is setting in.

Well, that sums up my feelings on Celebrity worshiping culture Magazines and the type of people who read them. Hope you enjoyed the parody!

Oh, and for the record, I don’t hate Frankie Boyle. But everyone else in there can get fucked with a rusty knife for all I care.

Misleading Female Propaganda! Am I Right, Men?

Posted by DeadAnarchistPhil on June 20, 2011

I came across this list on my ISP’s home page. They have a deal going with a popular on-line dating site, so occasionally these ads will pop up and I read them for a laugh. This time it took the biscuit. My answers are in green!
12 Things women wish men knew about them

1. We’re not money motivated
We really don’t care if you’re minted or work down the local chippy. What matters to us is that you’re a decent guy who treats us well and who has the drive and ambition to make something of himself.

Rubbish! While this may be true for some women, a lot of the women I know don’t want anything to do with a man if he hasn’t got some dosh in his pocket or can’t provide for her.

2. We hate it when you don’t put the toilet seat down
You probably think we’re making too much of it, but if the seats not down when we want to use the bathroom at night, things can get pretty ugly. Take note.

Is this really a problem? I’ve never heard a woman moan about the seat being up, but have moaned about it being down, because that’s when it get’s full of piss from lazy men!

3. We don’t fancy our male friends
Okay so some of our best mates happen to be chaps, but you really haven’t got anything to worry about. If we fancied them we would have dated them years ago. It’s platonic so deal with it.

Yeh, but it’s all different when men have female friends, it can’t be platonic then, because men only think about one thing… apparently!

4. We hate being lied to
Even seemingly harmless deception will arouse our suspicions. We’d always prefer to hear the truth than be told a lie even a white one. And for the record being cheated on is way worse than being dumped.

Load of crap! Women LOVE to be lied to! Female:  “Does my bum look big in this?” Male: *Yeh, it does, but best say it doesn’t or she’ll bollock me and we’ll never get to the party* “No, looks fine, babe!” Not only do they lie to themselves they self-delude too! They know their arse looks big, but she and her girl friends delude themselves in to thinking otherwise. Is the man the only one who knows it does looks huge?

5. We can tell when you’re checking out other women
You may think you’re being super subtle but we can always tell when you’re admiring another female. And guess what, we’re fine with it. Just as long as you don’t act on your impulse.

Yeh, some are alright with it others get super jealous and cause a scene, followed by a night of sobbing and saying: “Am I not good enough for him? All men are pigs!” *all her friends agree*

6. Kissing on the first date is fine
If the date has gone well, don’t feel you have to wait three days to call. Act on your impulse. We’re more than capable of letting you know if it’s not okay.

I never knew this! How are we supposed to know! We cant read minds. Why don’t you let us know before we make an arse of ourselves?
7. We like a bit of chivalry
Don’t be afraid to hold open a door for us or pull our chair out for us at dinner.  Of course we’re capable of doing it ourselves, but it’s possible to appreciate a bit of good old fashioned chivalry without encroaching on our feminist sensibilities.
Is that so?

8. We don’t expect you to pay for everything
If you’ve asked us out ,it’s customary to pay for the first date, but we’re more than happy to split the bill after that. No woman wants to bankrupt her man and most of us like to assert our independence from time to time too.

LOL!!!!!!!! Some do, some don’t. Some women like to be independent and pay their own way, others are more than happy to let him pay.

9. We hate it when you say you’ll call and then don’t
Don’t treat us like babies. If you’re no intention of seeing us again, then tell us to our face. Saying you’ll call and then not is just mean. And unless you’ve got a very good excuse you won’t get a second chance.

Yeh, but if we call up too quickly you think we’re “Too keen.” and “Desperate”, which puts the ladies off.

10.  You look extra sexy when you’re holding a baby
Sorry, it’s in our genes. A bloke with a baby scores serious points with us.

I’ve heard this before and seen it happen for myself!

11. We prefer brains over braun
You don’t have to have a gym honed bod for us to like you. We’re interested in what’s going on up top. But don’t use that as an excuse. Ideally we like a bit of both.

Nah, bollocks. Most women love a sexy, toned man, if he had brains too then that would be a bonus. However, a lot of women wouldn’t go out with an intelligent man with not so good looks.

12.  We need to hear how you feel about us often
It’s our Achilles heel. We not only need to hear you say how you feel about us on a regular basis, but you need to show it too. Romantic gestures and little surprises mean a lot.

Again, different women different choices. But again, I’ve heard women say a man was: “Too nice!”

Obviously these were generalisations on behalf of all women, but it made me laugh and I had to share my thoughts on it. What’s you thoughts? Ladies, are you really that bothered about the seat being up? Is the list above what you think of men? Men, is my list what you think of ladies?

Tell me honestly, does my bum look big in this?

Facebook Has Given Me The Boot

Posted by DeadAnarchistPhil on April 29, 2011

Why did they delete me? Well, not because I said, wrote or posted anything bad, it was because my name didn’t match what I signed up with. Like many people on Facebook I changed my name now and again, and because it was ‘Phil Nihilism’ they disabled my account.

I don’t know about you but that is just utter shit! When I signed up to Facebook the real name stipulation wasn’t there. I signed up with the name ‘Flipper Sunk The Boat’ just for a laugh, and changed it a few times since. I couldn’t really stand Facebook anyway and was only there for some family and friends I couldn’t speak to anywhere else on a regular basis. I’ve gradually got really pissed off with the site and what it offers, for instance the limited characters in wall posts and comments, the bland look of the site and the fact Facebook takes your details and gives them away to third parties, as do you when you add Applications to your profile.

So I’m not really arsed about Facebook, I could put my real name back in and gain my account back, but when a site is telling me what my name should be, making the site for the ADD generation and thick people then it’s time for me to leave. Only thing I’m sad about is leaving some people on there. However, this will be a good opportunity to see who will get back in contact with me, I’ve got a feeling only two or three will even bother.

Which just confirms my feelings on making friends on the net and in the real world, don’t bother because  a lot go away in the end when they’ve either had their fill of you or you’ve bored them and thus you’ve served your purpose. Humans are fickle, arrogant and self-serving creatures. Well.. the majority are anyway. And people wonder why I’m so unsociable and unwilling to make friends so easy?

Anyway… fuck Facebook!

Few Songs I like

Posted by DeadAnarchistPhil on April 24, 2011

Just thought I’d post some of the music/bands/singers that I liked and listened to when I was growing up and beyond. There were more bands but I don’t listen to them anymore, so I only include the ones I still like.

Just because I like a song doesn’t mean I’m an expert on that band or know more of their songs and albums, though I do know a lot about some bands than others.

Songs are listed in the decades I first heard them.

The Police – Walking On The Moon (One of the first songs I ever remember hearing).

The Petshop Boys – What Have I Done To Deserve This

The Waterboys – Whole Of The Moon

Eurythmics – Sweet Dreams

Procol Harum – A Whiter Shade Of Pale

The Moody Blues – Nights In White Satin

Tears For Fears – Everybody Wants To Rule The World

Talk Talk – It’s My Life

The Specials – (Don’t remember which song it was but it was most likely ‘Ghost Town’. So see The Specials in the ’90s section for one of my favourites).

Madness – It Must Be Love

The Stranglers – Golden Brown

Simple Minds – Alive And Kicking (the leader singer looks like the late Steve Irwin!)

New Order – True Faith (EPIC WINNING!).

Joy Division – (Can’t remember the song but I heard the music, see 1990s for one of my favourites)

The La’s – There She Goes

Depeche Mode – Enjoy The Silence

Talk Talk – Life’s What You Make It

The Specials – Gangsters (look at the guy’s (Dam’s) [RAPE] face at 1:27 lol )

James – Sit Down

Sepultura – Ratamahatta (first taste of metal back in ’95, it tasted good!)

Joy Division – Dead Souls (WINNING! so much they created a hole in space-time that will forever keep pushing their music from Universe to Universe!)

Radiohead –  Fade Out

Pulp – Misshapes (Never, in Human History, has so much WINNING! been created by so few people and dedicated to so many.)

Stone Roses – I Wanna Be Adored (“I wanna be a door…” I wonder if Ian Brown achieved his ambition?)

Orbital – Lush (First song I heard from these guys was ‘The Box’ but I prefer this song)

The Orb – Asylum

Aphex Twin – On (First track I heard of his, still like it, even though it sounds like a strained fart looped over and over. By the way, Jarvis from Pulp made this video, not sure if he provided the sample for the track though).

Manic Street Preachers – Design For Life (The first Political song I ever really liked and still love it. It’s still relevant fifteen years after it was written.)

Bjork – Hyperballad

Sex Pistols – Anarchy In The UK

Public Image Limited – Seattle (I like PIL better than the Pistols)

Dubstar – Not So Manic Now

Massive Attack – Rising Son

Paul Weller – Wild Wood

The Clash – Straight To Hell (I heard the Clash back in the ’80s but didn’t listen to or know who they really were untill the late 90s early 2000s. Not that much of a fan anymore now).

De-Lacy – Hideaway (A one off from ’95)

U2 – The Unforgettable Fire (I aint a big fan of U2 at all or they way Bono sucks up to world leaders, but I like a few of their songs).

Monaco – What Do You Want From Me? (side project by Hooky from New Order).

The Smiths – There Is a Light That Never Goes Out

Morrissy –  Irish Blood, English Heart

The Beloved – The Sun Rising (EMI is not letting me see the video so I can’t post it).

Cast – Alright

Everything But The Girl – Missing

George Michael – Spinning The Wheel (I don’t think he get’s enough credit for his other work in the mid-’90s)

Suede – Trash

Blur – The Universal (I hate that British Gas used this in their ad, I now think of them instead of blur or the times when I first started listening to this song!)

Saint Etienne – Only Love Can Break Your Heart

The Bluetones – Slight Return

Primal Scream – Higher Than The Sun

Lo Fidelity Allstars – Blisters On My Brain

Killing Joke – Love Like Blood

Slayer – Raining Blood

Pantera – 5 Minutes Alone

Death And The ‘Afterlife’?

Posted by DeadAnarchistPhil on April 15, 2011

First off, sorry if this is a bit morbid, if you don’t want to comment on this blog because it upsets you or it just isn’t a topic of interest, then sit this one out.

I find myself thinking about death and the afterlife a lot seeing as I’m an Obsessive Thinker and ruminater caused by OCD. But I don’t think I’m alone in thinking about this subject, you don’t need to be deep thinker or have OCD to think about Death and what may or may not lie beyond it.

When I think of death it brings a feeling sadness, darkness and images of a road on a rainy night with the street lights shining while the fine rain is blown by the wind as it falls past the lamp light at different angles. Graveyards are an obvious one, I dislike them a lot, it reminds me of the inevitable fate we, and indeed, everything else that lives faces in the end.

It so sad to me that everything we are, all our memories, experiences talents and basically everything else is snuffed out forever when we die. I can’t really describe it properly but the majority of the time it leaves me feeling very Nihilistic and that nothing we do will ever matter in the grand scheme of the Universe. I know the fact we’re all going to josh-it one day doesn’t mean we can’t live for today, but that sense of Nihilism, at that point, is so overwhelming that nothing does matter, it makes you not what to do anything. Everything just shrinks in to insignificance. And then you come back to ‘normality’ and it sort of annoys me that as well as not existing at all I’m going to miss so much after I die! So many wonderous things, the bad things I can miss, but there’s going to be so much change, inventions and discoveries I’m going to miss!

My question to you on this subject is, what do you think of Death? Are you worried about it? Does it bother you that one day your family members will die by before you? Does it bother you that you’ll leave people behind and that you’ll never be awake ever again? Oh, that’s assuming there is no afterlife! Now, I’m not going to say there is an after life or there isn’t… but… my gut feeling is there is nothing once you’re lights go out. That’s it, you’re done. I mean, I hope I’m completely wrong, but to me it seems obvious. That disclaimer out-of-the-way let me continue, so… will it bother you that you’ll be missing out on so much after you die? Not just the good things but the good times you could’ve had with family and friends? On the flip side, do you believe in an afterlife? If so, what makes you think it exists and what evidence is there to support that?

Ghosts! Do you believe in Ghosts? Have you ever had an encounter with one?

My opinion on Ghosts is just because I can’t see them, it doesn’t mean that something isn’t there, especially when so many others have supposedly seen or felt these things.

I have family members who’ve seen Ghosts! My Gran is the main one, she’s told me a few stories. One of the main ones she told me about was when she and her co-worker where working at a local pub that they didn’t know was haunted and saw the ex-landlord who hung himself. They were cleaning one evening (or morning) when they both saw the same Ghost… her co-worker was so scared her hair went white and she refused to go back to the pub ever again.

Apparently my Gran’s mother was a ‘Medium’, she had also seen Ghosts.

Another family member of mine had seen her Grand Father, whom she’d never met and only knew from pictures, in the door way of the living room. I was in the house at the time and heard her go hysterical. At first I thought she was laughing but she was crying. The same family member saw my aforementioned Grandmother twice since she died a few years back.

Now, I know these family members well, do they have reason to lie? No, they don’t, I don’t think they would say such things just to attention seek. Do I believe what they say they see? Well, I’m a skeptic, I can’t believe something without facts, evidence or a solid explanation as to why or what they say they’ve seen is actually there. Being exposed to high ElectroMagnetic Fields (EMFs) can make some people feel or even see things that are not there. So, some family memebrs of mine may be predisposed to seeing things if they’re ever exposed to high EMFs. I’m more inclined to believe this because it has a basis in reality and can actually be replicated in the lab. These lab results show that all people can experience that ghostly feeling if the EMF is turned up high enough, it’s just some people have more of a sensitivity to EMFs, and these are the people who see or feel Ghosts where EMFs are to high for them.

You don’t always have to be exposed to EMFs to see things. The Human brain is also programmed to find faces and form in everything, which is why we see form everywhere (You see the Hitler house in the news lately?). Imagine going from a  light room in to a dimly lit or dark room and your eyes adjust, you brain will struggle to make sense and find out what and where everything is, and with the light that was just in your eyes fading away your brain makes pictures and faces, if you’re that way inclined think that, which you would if you were scared of the dark or believe in Ghosts. If you didn’t and wanted to see a light switch on a near by wall you’d reach for it and fall over because the wall you imagined wasn’t actually there.

Myself personally, I haven’t seen or heard anything! Family members on the other hand hear something everyday! Every creek, thump, breeze, unexplained electrical appliance cutting out, flickering light, dark shadow from the corner of their eyes, things going missing and door shutting (when there’s an obvious explanation for it) is a Ghost of a family member. When I hear the above I don’t think Ghost, sometimes it doesn’t register at all, unless I’m in bed, in which case I’ll know what it is. It’ll either be people up, floorboards popping back in to place, a window open, door being shut too fast, cats messing about or heating coming on. If it is none of them and I know people are in bed then I will think: “Someone’s broken in!”

However, even if I did see something, I wouldn’t put it straight down to a super natural force, as I explained above, I could be in a high EMF area, really tired, my eyes receiving signals from my brain when adjusting to light/dark  (playing tricks) or I’m under the influence of some chemical.

The above is my take on it, I want to hear your take though, if you believe otherwise then tell me your stories, I’d love to hear them! However, I may try to dispute what you saw by offering up explanations, but I wont really baulk at you… much! lol

Hope all are doing well and have a great weekend!

Another Interesting Search Term!

Posted by DeadAnarchistPhil on March 8, 2011

I kid you not! LOL! OK, it could be a young bloke looking for a young picture of her, or maybe an older one? Who are we to judge them for what they like? I say we’re no one! But, we can still laugh at them for it! LOL!

Genetic Manipulation And Human Evolution

Posted by DeadAnarchistPhil on March 2, 2011

I watched Horizan: Are We Still Evolving? on BBC Two last night and I have to say, I found it interesting and was a little shocked at the fact modern-day geneticists at the LA Fertility Institutes are screening embryos for genetic diseases and sex for the ultimate, and actual, aim of IVF transplantation. I’m not shocked because I’m against it, because I think with strict regulation it could save and improve the Human Race. I was shocked because these geneticists are allowed to do it, I always thought any manipulation of the Human embryo was banned beyond a certain stage and could not be transplanted in to a Human Womb.

Have a look at this:

With the advent of modern medicines that weaken the Human race because it removes natural selection and the constant battle going on between us and our only efficient and natural predator left, microbial life forms, I think genetic Manipulation of future generations would be a good thing. But only if the technology was safe to use and regulated so Humanity wouldn’t breed a genetic underclass or start adding all kinds of animal adaptions that are foreign to our active genetic code. I believe, if we start doing that we cease being the Human race and become something entirely different. But improving our genetics, so we have a stronger, healthier and more intelligent Human species can only be a good thing. How could it possibly be a bad thing?

I don’t think it is, because we’re currently at a disadvantage against some genetic diseases and especially with microbial life!  Microbial  life has an infinitely shorter life span than that of a Human’s and thus breeds new, stronger generations faster and that are resistant to our drugs, medicines and most of our immune systems. In the past, this wouldn’t have been a problem as these microbes wouldn’t have developed a resistance to drugs and cleaning fluids because they didn’t  exist and only our immune system would have dealt with it. Yes, people would die, but that is the way natural selection works, if you haven’t got what it takes to survive then you die. That’s the natural way, a way that is and wont be accepted in modern-day society. So it’s only a matter of time before Genetic Manipulation of Human embryos is accepted as the norm, if indeed Humans survive that long.

Having said that, I think Genetic Manipulation may only have to be done every 200 years or so? If you think about it, if a population of Humans genetically manipulate all their offspring to be resistant to genetic diseases, microbials and to have perfect immune systems, then future generations of that population will still be strong for a long while. Obviously, over time genetic mutations will naturally occur and weaken the community, so a strengthening of the community could be carried out every 200 years or whenever it is needed. Would that be acceptable? Would you support such a scheme? If not, then why not?

What I also found interesting in the programme was that the Human race has in fact been evolving over the last 2000 years! I thought we pretty much stopped because we could adapt to all environments with inventions and see off all predators. Apparently Humans have developed the ability to produce lactase, which is the enzyme in your small intestine that breaks down the lactose in milk. In the past Humans only had this ability when they were children, and after they were weaned they lost this function. Populations in North and North Western Europe and parts of the Middle East developed this adaptation over the last 2000 years where pastoral grazing of captive animals took place. Where as other populations in parts of the world, especially in South East Asia, have not, as they never consumed Milk from other animals untill fairly recently.

There’s also the amazing people of the Himalayas who have adapted to living in the high altitudes where oxygen is only 60% what it is at sea level and higher up the mountains there is even less oxygen. These people exist and live where normal populations from lower altitudes would die or be sick.

I find it utterly fascinating and an example of evolution in progress, right in front of our eyes. And I hope, this means our evolution is not over yet.. We may have the technology to manipulate our genetic code but that doesn’t mean we wont ever be susceptible to the natural world around us ever again, because we will at some point. I just hope that Humanity progresses forward and doesn’t just limit  Its evolutionary adaptions to environment only. I hope we go on to become more intelligent and maybe control that violent nature we have that threatens to destroy us, so we can create a Human race that survives in to the future, even if that Race evolves beyond the point of not being Human anymore.
